My Airmega has a smell / odor

If you have a problem with a Newly purchased Airmega or its filter set​​:

  • Airmega's new products may emit an odor when opening the box; that is normal. All Airmega products are covered with plastic wraps or bags to protect themselves from outside contaminants, so please rest assured that they are not contaminated by the outside environment.
  • If you just got the new filter, it is manufactured by processing various polymer materials (PP, PET, PE, etc.), so odors like new clothes may occur. The filter is enclosed by a plastic bag inside the Airmega products, and a cardboard box for a filter set box, and the smell from the product accumulates inside. The smell from the True HEPA filter is harmless.​​
  • Please turn on your Airmega and ventilate your room to air out the Airmega and its filter to reduce the new filter odor faster. It may take up to a few days to gas off the odor from the True HEPA filters.
  • You may also place the new filter by an open window before starting to use it or run your Airmega in a room where you spend less time for a few days until the odor fades away. ​

If you have a problem with Used filter / Filter used in a strong odor environment​​:

  • If you recently cleaned the Pre-filter with a wet towel or water, please make sure to dry it before using it, or the strong odor will be saturated into the Pre-filter.
  • When the filter is full and saturated, it can start releasing a smell, and we recommend replacing it with a new filter set.​
  • The average expected lifetime of the filter is stated for each Coway Airmega product.​ However, the expected filter lifetime can be highly dependent on the environment, which could require more frequent replacement.​ For example, a garage, basement, or outside open area can cause quick performance deterioration of the filters.

PLEASE KNOW:
It is impossible to remove all odors. In addition to Airmega, occasional ventilation is required, which will help eliminate strong odors.​
